Ant Control in Arnold & Jefferson County

Spraying the ants you can see usually makes things worse. The colony splits, and now you have two nests instead of one.

We find where they're coming in, figure out which ant it is, and use baits the workers carry back home. That's how the queen gets handled, and that's what actually ends it.

Signs you have ants

  • A steady line of ants along a baseboard, counter or window sill
  • Little piles of soil pushed up through cracks in the slab or driveway
  • Fine sawdust under trim or window frames (carpenter ants)
  • Winged ants inside in spring, which usually means a mature nest nearby

How we handle it

  1. 1 Identify the species. Odorous house ants, pavement ants and carpenter ants all want different baits.
  2. 2 Place slow-acting bait where they're feeding so it makes it back to the nest.
  3. 3 Treat the outside perimeter and entry points so new colonies don't move in.
  4. 4 Check back. Ant jobs often need a second visit two to three weeks later.

What you can do in the meantime

  • Wipe counters at night and keep pet food sealed
  • Fix leaky faucets and gutters; ants follow moisture
  • Keep mulch and firewood a foot or more off the foundation
  • Trim branches that touch the roof or siding
