Spider Control in Arnold & Jefferson County

Most spiders are harmless and even helpful. Two that aren't, the brown recluse and the black widow, are both common in Jefferson County and South County basements.

Spiders go where the food is, so we treat for spiders and for the insects that attract them. That's what keeps the numbers down between visits.

Signs you have spiders

  • Webs that come back in the same corners within days
  • Spiders in sinks, tubs or shoes, especially in the basement
  • Shed skins along baseboards or in storage boxes (common with recluse)
  • Lots of insects around porch lights at night

How we handle it

  1. 1 Walk the house and garage to find where they're living and coming in.
  2. 2 Knock down webs and egg sacs around eaves, windows and doors.
  3. 3 Treat cracks, voids and the outside perimeter.
  4. 4 Place glue boards in basements and crawlspaces so we can see if numbers drop.

What you can do in the meantime

  • Store things in sealed plastic bins, not cardboard
  • Shake out shoes and gloves that sit in the garage
  • Switch outdoor bulbs to yellow or warm LED to draw fewer bugs
  • Seal gaps under doors and around pipes
