Chigger Yard Treatment in Arnold & Jefferson County
Chiggers are a Missouri summer staple. You don't see them; you just find the welts around your ankles and waistband the next day.
They live in tall grass, brush and shady, damp spots. Treating those areas, along with mowing and clearing brush, can make a big difference.
Signs you have chiggers
- Clusters of itchy red bumps around ankles, behind knees or at the waistband
- Bites showing up after time in one particular part of the yard
- Overgrown edges, brush piles or a wooded property line
How we handle it
- 1 Find the problem areas, usually edges, shade and unmowed spots.
- 2 Treat those areas during peak season, May through September.
- 3 Combine with mosquito and tick visits if you're doing those already.
What you can do in the meantime
- Keep grass mowed and brush cleared back from play areas
- Wear long pants and repellent in tall grass
- Shower soon after coming in from yard work
